Decemer 15, 2011: For the past 41 years, Coweta Festivals, Inc., has worked diligently to provide a high quality arts and crafts festival for the community. Unfortunately, the financial crisis in this country has affected everything and everyone. Higher production cost required charging higher vendor and admission prices that prevented the festival from being sustainable.
In addition, many volunteers are finding it difficult to spend their time and money in these hard times. Since each member organization relies heavily on volunteers, we began to look for the best options for the county, vendors and citizens who developed a tradition of attending the festival.
Although the board would love to see Powers’ Festival continue for another four decades, interest in the event has declined, and the economy certainly hasn't helped matters. The board has been forced to suspend the 2012 Powers’ Festival and seek new ways to use the festival grounds.
The historic plantation property includes 100 acres of the most beautiful hardwoods, open fields and charming facilities that are available in the community. We welcome organizations or individuals wishing to host festivals and other events to contact us for more information about leasing opportunities.

Coweta Festivals, Inc is a non-profit organization operating Powers' Crossroads Country Fair & Art Festival and benefits five local organizations.

Powers' Celebrates 41+ Years...Powers’ Crossroads Country Fair and Art Festival was formed in 1971 by local and well known artist, Tom Powers. Powers' Festival celebrated its 40th year by inviting back artists from the past and inviting new artists to showcase the finest in juried arts and crafts. Tradition will continue this Labor Day weekend as we welcome over 100 artists from all over the United States exhibiting and selling their creative work - making this a unique outdoor market, in a beautiful country setting. The site of the festival is on the beautiful grounds of the Powers' Family Plantation and exhibitors are set up along winding paths under shady trees. One of the many highlights of the Festival is the abundance of delicious country cooking. Non-profit booths from local church and civic groups - staffed by volunteers prepare the tasty fares. Favorites include Bar B Q (prepared on location during the festival), southern vegetable plates, sausage and biscuits, hamburgers, hot dogs, fried fruit pies, funnel cakes, and more.
Country, gospel, folk and contemporary music will be featured at the main stage entertainment area. This year, there will be several stage areas located throughout the festival grounds.
Highlights include demonstrations of plantation skills such as blacksmithing, sorghum syrup mill, spinning yarn, and the original Powers' Plantation grist mill. Many of our exhibitors demonstrate their art or craft at the booths during thorugout the weekend.
Over one hundred fifty quality exhibitors will be featured this year during our juried event. Exhibitor categories include: fiber, folk crafts, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, painting, pottery, mixed media, organic media, needlecrafts, sculpture, wearable fiber, and wood.

POWERS' FESTIVAL ART COLLECTION
POWERS’ CROSSROADS COUNTRY FAIR AND ART FESTIVAL - A SHORT HISTORY-
Powers’ Crossroads Country Fair and Art Festival was formed in 1971 by local and well known artist, Tom Powers. The site of the festival was on the beautiful grounds of the Powers Family Plantation. Exhibitors were set up along winding paths under shady trees. The Festival was a huge success from its beginning and involved all the communities of Heard and Coweta Counties.
Mr. Powers operated the Festival for 3 ½ years with much cooperation and assistance of these communities and their civic and church organizations. For various reasons, health and otherwise, Mr. Powers had to give up the operation of the festival and in the middle of that last year the Festival was under the supervision of the Newnan Coweta Chamber of Commerce.
In 1975 Coweta Festivals, Inc., was formed as an umbrella organization of six Non-Profit Civic groups; Newnan Coweta Chamber of Commerce, the Newnan Coweta Art Association, The Newnan Coweta Jaycees, The Pilot Club of Newnan, The Newnan Coweta Chapter of Professional Secretaries International (later changed to International Association of Administrative Professionals) and the 4-H Boys and Girls of Coweta County. These non-profit organizations purchased the Festival site a few years later when the land became available. The 86 acres now belongs to Coweta Festivals, Inc., and the annual Festival continues to be a success. It has become well known throughout the nation and has been selected several times by the Southeast Tourism Society as one of “The Top Twenty Events” for the month of September.
